| It was at the beginning of the sixties when a well-known
Mahonese boatbuilder, Juanito Petrus, eager to improve
the product dared build his first polyester llaud.
His success led to the Capeador brand. In those years
the carpenter’s worshop was located in Port Mahon.
In
1975, our father Justo Saura, led by his passion for the
sea, too charge of the Capeador brand and shipyard.
Based on his expertise and creativity he set to build
numerous models of increasing length, abiding always
by the lines of the typical Minorcan llaud.
The Capeador was growingly present in the Minorcan
waters, plied those of Mallorca and the Catalan Costa
Brava, and reached Ibiza, Valencia and the rest of
Spain. Characteristically it was said “to match the
owner’s desires” so that each unit was virtually unique.
Thus, my fahter always mention them by their owner’s
name, not by the model.
It is in the mid-nineties that
the three brothers set for a generational change in the
structure of the company and grounded Astilleros
Capeador Ltd. e ept to our personalized boats, only that
with a company and facilities with up-to-date
technology.
